Need a Pages or Keynote file to look exactly like the original? Open it free at iCloud.com with an Apple ID and export it from there — step-by-step guide.
How it works
- Choose or drop your file — or several at once. The page recognises the type from its name.
- It reads the file inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so it also works offline once the page has loaded.
- Look through it, then download what you need: PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, the attachments or the pictures.
What works and what doesn't
- Emails (.msg, .eml): the body as the sender wrote it, the header, attachments and emails attached inside. Scripts in an email never run, and pictures from the internet stay blocked until you allow them. Encrypted mail (S/MIME, Microsoft Purview) can only be read in Outlook.
- winmail.dat: the attachments and the text hidden inside it.
- Numbers: every sheet and table, with the values exactly as stored. Formulas come across as their results. Charts, images, cell colours and borders are not copied.
- Pages: the body text with headings and lists, text boxes, footnotes and pictures. Page layout, fonts and columns are not rebuilt. Tables inside a Pages document are marked but not shown.
- Keynote: each slide's text in order, presenter notes, the small slide previews saved in the file, and the pictures. Animations and slide design are not rebuilt.
- Contacts (.vcf): names, every phone and email with its label, company, title, address, birthday, notes. Photos are skipped. A .vcf of DNA data (Variant Call Format) is not a contacts file and is reported as such.
- Calendar (.ics): every event with time zone conversion, location, meeting link, organizer and attendees; repeating events are described in words, not expanded.
- Older Apple files (iWork '09 and earlier) often contain a PDF copy made by the app — when it is there, you can download it with the original layout.
- Password-protected Pages, Numbers or Keynote files can't be opened here. Remove the password on a Mac, iPhone or at iCloud.com first.
FAQ
Is it really free?
Yes. There's no sign-up and no limit on file size beyond what your browser can handle (about 200 MB).
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The page reads the file inside your browser. For Numbers files it downloads a reader (about 7 MB, once) and runs it on your computer.
Can I open many files at once?
Yes. Select or drop several files together. For emails you get a list and one click downloads a ZIP with a PDF of each email plus its attachments. For Pages, Numbers and Keynote you get a list and open each one.
Why does the first Numbers file take a few seconds?
The reader for Numbers spreadsheets is loaded the first time you need it. After that your browser keeps it, so the next files open quickly — even offline.
Will my Excel file have the formulas?
No — you get the results of the formulas, exactly as Numbers calculated them. Numbers and Excel write formulas differently, so copying them would produce errors.
Why doesn't my Pages document look the same?
Pages stores layout in its own format that only Apple's apps fully understand. We give you all of the words and pictures so you can read and reuse them. For a pixel-perfect copy, export from iCloud.com — it's free with an Apple ID.
Are email attachments included in the PDF?
No — the PDF lists their names. Save each one with its Download button, or all of them as a ZIP.
How do I get a .msg into Apple Mail or Thunderbird?
Open it here and click Save as .eml. Apple Mail and Thunderbird open .eml files directly; attachments and emails attached inside come along.
"This does not look like an email file" or "not a Pages, Numbers or Keynote document"
The file may have been only partly downloaded, or renamed from another format. Download it again, or ask the sender to export it as PDF, Word or Excel.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern browser. Save the file from your email app first, then choose it here.
Which formats does it follow?
For email: the formats Microsoft publishes for .msg and TNEF (winmail.dat), and RFC 5322 for .eml. For Apple files: the package structure documented by the open-source projects numbers-parser and keynote-parser.
Install as an app — double-click these files on your computer
In Chrome or Edge on a computer, click Install app at the top of this page (or the install icon in the address bar). Then right-click a .msg, .eml, .numbers, .pages, .key, .vcf or .ics file › Open with › Choose another app › OpenWithout, and tick "Always". From then on a double-click opens the file here. It's the same private viewer — files still never leave your computer.
